History Of Rose Garden
Although roses were grown in China many years ago, they hold a good account of almost 1,000 years. The French Empress Josephine de Beauharnais started the Rose garden at Malmaison, France. Hence, it started in the years between 1799 – 1814. She also financed many trips for a better rose quality and more species for the gardens.
Thus, there were many varieties of roses in her garden. After her death in 1814, about 250 types are present in the Malmaison Garden of France. The gardeners or the researcher of rose variety introduced about 200 different flowers, including Dahlia to the people of France.
The oldest garden open for the public is Jules Gravereaux’ Roseraie du Val de Marne, South of Paris in L’Hay Les Roses. It was established in 1899 and therefore is the biggest garden in France.
